Master Naturalist Strives To:

Increase participants’ knowledge of Oregon’s eight ecoregions and appreciation of how each region’s ecology affects their daily lives.

Increase participants’ knowledge and appreciation of the natural cycles that shape the ecology of Oregon's ecoregions.

Increase participants’ knowledge and appreciation of the natural history of Oregon’s flora and fauna and the forest, grassland, aquatic, mountain, coastal and ocean habitats upon which they depend.

Increase participants’ knowledge and appreciation of how humans’ attitudes and behaviors have impacted and benefited Oregon’s natural resources over time in such things as forestry, wildlife, fisheries, range management, recreation and crop agriculture.

Improve or maintain participants’ attitudes and behaviors for the sustainability of Oregon’s natural resources.

Give participants the skills necessary to evaluate alternative responses to environmental issues and act upon them based upon good science.

Give participants the leadership and technical skills necessary to conduct at least one of the following: stewardship beneficial to organisms and their habitats, conservation education relevant to various audiences and age groups, and scientific inquiry through a variety of citizen science programs.
